River Whyless premiere their new video for “All Day All Night” via NPR Music today, who say the “vivid colors and weird visuals match River Whyless’ delightful alt-folk sound.” The song is a bright and driving song, but also a little haunting, and the video uses the literal concept of day fading to night to convey the darker aspects of the song’s glitter and gold. “All Day All Night” is from the Asheville, NC band’s new album We All The Light, out August 26th on Roll Call Records.

UK duo patten return with their third LP and second for Warp, an album of deconstructed club music.
“There were atmospheres, palettes and textures we were interested in looking at and distilling on Ψ – like the grinding city sounds of Industrial music, the bass weight of UK dance’s Hardcore Continuum, the emotive drive of 80s Goth, the techy weirdness of current pop music like Rihanna, the sonics of modern club like Grime, Footwork and Techno. We wrote in a very open way, allowing these elements to naturally interact in what we were doing.”

LA-based Beware of Darkness are set to release their new album Are You Real? on September 16th via Bright Antenna Records. In anticipation, the band shares a new video for lead single “Dope” with PopMatterstoday - a quintessential example of BOD’s trademark humour with a dark, surrealist twist. The video, shot by acclaimed video director Keith Musil, features the band being saved from fiery wreckage by a bad ass gang of lady bodybuilders.
“The kind of angular rock Beware of Darkness make recalls the Arctic Monkeys as much as the White Stripes-immaculately pop-savvy, with a grungy backbone that makes them as at home on a stadium floor as a barroom one.” - PopMatters
The band has also announced a west coast tour that kicks off on August 17th and hits cities such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Las Vegas, and more. A full list of tour dates is below.
Are You Real? is the band’s biggest and boldest statement yet. The 12-track collection serves as an urgent call to arms not only for frontman Kyle Nicolaides, but for the band’s sound as well. The music ushers the rebirth of a sound that is as refreshing as it is addictive, and goes much deeper than riffs.
The album illustrates how a rock star on the rise fought uncertainty and disillusionment to avoid flaming out. And, more importantly, how he has come through the other side revitalized and focused, and with the best songs of his young career. Fans who pre-order the album will receive singles “Dope” and “Muthafucka” instantly.
