Dividing her time between Toronto, ON and Nashville, TN, Canadian Songstress Jadea Kelly is very familiar with life on the road. This fall she’ll embark on a tour with Winnipeg’s Sweet Alibi and share songs from her compelling and honest third studio record, Love & Lust. The album was released to rave reviews on June 3, 2016 via her own label Darth Jadea Music (distributed by Fontana North). The new record includes the CBC Radio 2 lauded track Make It Easy and Exclaim declares it to be “Kelly’s finest work yet.” Check out the brand new LIVE video of her track Good Girl (co-written w/ Robyn Dell’Unto and Stew Crookes), captured at her sold-out Toronto show at The Drake. Tour details listed below and at: www.darthjadea.com.
Love & Lust features 11 beautifully crafted and thoughtfully executed songs. “Beauty” in particular is perhaps the most delicate and forgiving of songs on this album and co-written with Canadian artist Peter Katz. The song was chosen to accompany an incredible tribute video to celebrate Terry Fox, Day 11 of the Paralympics opening montage and has amassed over 383K views on Facebook. Be sure to watch it here.
Prior to the release of Love & Lust, Jadea Kelly headed into Union Sound Company to capture a collection of live performances for the new material. Released throughout the summer months – you can now check out the whole collection. Sit back and enjoy the stunning videos here:
Jadea Kelly - raised in Whitby, ON – is known most prominently for her vocal work with JUNO Award-winning Canadian folk artist Catherine MacLellan, as well as JUNO Award-winning Canadian metal band Protest the Hero. The unstoppable, wide-eyed, rump-shaking force of Skinny Lister continues apace with the announcement of their third studio album ‘The Devil, The Heart & The Fight‘ to be released on September 30, 2016 through Xtra Mile Recordings.
With lead single Wanted - a fiery Elvis-gone-folk roar of an opener that sees frontman Dan Heptinstall saluting London, New York and Cairo in a song “about looking for life in the cities we’d visit” – ‘The Devil, The Heart & The Fight’ comes out fists first. Check out the official video for Geordie Lad here:
Peaches has debuted the new video for “Sick In The Head”, which was shot entirely on the iPhone and is the latest in the series from her 2015 album ‘Rub’. Peaches says of the video, “Made with my visual collaborator Fubbi Karlsson, this entire video was shot on my iPhone. The tube that I dance in is inflatable (you can see it in action at the live shows). The whole video was made with a cast and crew of 4 people including myself.”
The enigmatic, world-renowned performer brought her show to a SOLD OUT Rough Trade in Brooklyn, NY last night and plays Webster Hall in NYC tonight. In previews, Peaches earned praise from both the New Yorker and The New York Times.
“Few musical provocateurs have more brazenly challenged audiences’ ideas of gender, sexuality and even time than Peaches.” – The New York Times
“‘Rub’ affirmed her prescience, proving aesthetically congruent with offspring like Grimes’s ‘Art Angels’ and ‘Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz’ while showing the young ones just how far the envelope can be pushed.” – The New Yorker
Swedish duo Grapell have given us another taste of their forthcoming Love Chamber EP. Zane Lowe premiered “Every Time…” on Beats 1 and Noisey also debuted the track, telling us, “Emil Erstrand and Nils Nygårdh have twisted the component parts of their music into something entirely new on their first single from the Love Chamber EP.”
Grapell give us some insight into the track and how it came to be on the EP. “When we were about to finish recording ‘Love Chamber,’ this song came naturally. We didn’t think about it at the time, but the song summons the whole theme of the EP. Obviously it’s about love, and ‘Every Time…’ summarizes the cliché about how heavenly and hellish it can be at the same time, but that you, like no matter what, will return to it, again and again.”
