CLOUD CASTLE LAKE RELEASE NEW VIDEO FOR “TWINS”

NORTH AMERICAN HEADLINE TOUR STARTS MONDAY, JANUARY 29 IN LOS ANGELES

Cloud Castle Lake

TORONTO, ON – January 23, 2018 - Dublin four-piece Cloud Castle Lake have premiered the new video for their rousing single ”Twins”. Described by Stereogum, who premiered the video , as “heavy-hearted euphoria,” “Twins” is perfectly complimented by the atmospheric and beautifully shot video, directed by Irish filmmaker Kenny Leigh in collaboration with the band.

“Nearly all of it was shot outdoors at Russborough House just as a hurricane was approaching, so towards the end of the day the weather got pretty hairy,” explains the band’s Brendan Jenkinson on the making of the video. “It was very unpleasant at the time but ended up working really well with the arc of the video. We wanted to capture the same mood and feel of dream sequences in 50s/60s European films. We found that, in a kind of counter-intuitive way, it really suited the music and gave a new dimension to the lyrics.”

On Monday, January 29th, Cloud Castle Lake will be making their way to North America for a 5-city tour, starting in Los Angeles at the Hotel Cafe. The band will make stops in San Francisco, Chicago and Boston before finishing with a show in New York City on February 6th. Having burst onto the scenes back in 2014 with their self-released debut Dandelion EP, the young band has since been championed by critics across the globe. Pitchfork welcomed them for being an “extremely rare case where a band incorporates not just the vocals and the rhythmic vibrancy, but also the pioneering spirit.” Stereogum hailed them as “one of the best” to come out of CMJ Music Festival in 2015 and NME called it when they appointed them as the “future trail-blazers” that they are.

Now, equipped with an independent record label called Bright Antenna behind them and an exhilarating body of work up their sleeves Cloud Castle Lake has confirmed their debut LP (produced by Rob Kirwan) will be released in Spring 2018.

Equal parts pastoral folk and soaring post-rock crescendo, Cloud Castle Lake comrpises of Daniel McAuley, Brendan William Jenkinson, Rory O’Connor and  and Brendan Doherty and often features additional collaborative musicians. Hailing from Dublin, the band has supported touring acts such as Glasser, Lisa Hannigan and Nigel Godrich’s Ultraísta.

TORONTO, ON – January 12, 2017 -Grounders are back and gearing up to release their sophomore LP Coffee & Jam on February 23 via Nevado Music. Today the band have given a taste of the LP with second single “Perfect”. Listen here.

Pre-Order Coffee & Jam here

First single, ‘Bringin’ It In’ was released last fall and has since been climbing the CBC R3 charts. The Sopranos-esqe video casts the guys as java maniacs who will stop at NOTHING to get some Griz. See the video here.

In anticipation of the release, Grounders will hit the road kicking things off with a hometown show tonight in Toronto (January 12) at The Baby G, followed by a string of live dates throughout Ontario with label mates The Wooden Sky. See below for full tour dates.

After the release of their 2015 self-titled debut, the band have logged countless hours on the road touring throughout North America. Grounders began writing and demoing while on tour and continued in their garage rehearsal space/gear palace, before hitting Union Sound studio in 2016, where they recorded Coffee & Jam with Ian Gomes. Working quickly, with few effects or studio tricks, the album was produced by “whoever was in the room.” It was mixed by the elusive David Newfeld (Broken Social Scene, Weaves) and mastered by Gavin Gardiner (The Wooden Sky). Coffee & Jam oozes with self-sabotage, anti-authoritarian rebellion and that twenty-somethings sense of the world passing by.

Grounders was formed in 2010 and has performed at festivals like SXSW, CMJ, NXNE, CMW, Sled Island, Rifflandia, Tomorrow Never Knows, among others. They’ve been featured on: Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, Rolling Stone, Noisey, Impose, Under The Radar, Pop Matters, Flood Magazine, No Fear Of Pop, Clash, Exclaim, CBC, NOW, Baeble Music, Pure Volume, Indie Shuffle, Chart Attack, Indie 88, Beatroute. Their music has appeared on the soundtrack of a first-person shower simulation video game called Rinse And Repeat and has been played for the studio audience of The Price Is Right. Drew Carey is a fan.
