GroundersOne

TORONTO, ON – January 12, 2017 -Grounders are back and gearing up to release their sophomore LP Coffee & Jam on February 23 via Nevado Music. Today the band have given a taste of the LP with second single “Perfect”. Listen here.

Pre-Order Coffee & Jam here

First single, ‘Bringin’ It In’ was released last fall and has since been climbing the CBC R3 charts. The Soporanos-esqe video casts the guys as java maniacs who will stop at NOTHING to get some Griz. See the video here.

In anticipation of the release, Grounders will hit the road kicking things off with a hometown show tonight in Toronto (January 12) at The Baby G, followed by a string of live dates throughout Ontario with label mates The Wooden Sky. See below for full tour dates.

After the release of their 2015 self-titled debut, the band have logged countless hours on the road touring throughout North America. Grounders began writing and demoing while on tour and continued in their garage rehearsal space/gear palace, before hitting Union Sound studio in 2016, where they recorded Coffee & Jam with Ian Gomes. Working quickly, with few effects or studio tricks, the album was produced by “whoever was in the room.” It was mixed by the elusive David Newfeld (Broken Social Scene, Weaves) and mastered by Gavin Gardiner (The Wooden Sky). Coffee & Jam oozes with self-sabotage, anti-authoritarian rebellion and that twenty-somethings sense of the world passing by.

Grounders was formed in 2010 and has performed at festivals like SXSW, CMJ, NXNE, CMW, Sled Island, Rifflandia, Tomorrow Never Knows, among others. They’ve been featured on: Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, Rolling Stone, Noisey, Impose, Under The Radar, Pop Matters, Flood Magazine, No Fear Of Pop, Clash, Exclaim, CBC, NOW, Baeble Music, Pure Volume, Indie Shuffle, Chart Attack, Indie 88, Beatroute. Their music has appeared on the soundtrack of a first-person shower simulation video game called Rinse And Repeat and has been played for the studio audience of The Price Is Right. Drew Carey is a fan.

NPR FIRST LISTEN SHARES ADVANCE PREVIEW OF TYPHOON’S NEW ALBUM OFFERINGS

January 5th, 2018

NORTH AMERICAN DATES WITH STOPS IN TORONTO AND VANCOUVER

Typhoon#2

TORONTO, ON – January 5, 2018 NPR’s First Listen has offered up an advance play of contemplative indie rockers Typhoon’s forthcoming new album Offerings which will be released January 12th via Roll Call Records.

“The fourth album Offerings [is] the most ominous and sonically dramatic record from Typhoon,” shares NPR’s Bob Boilen. “This album of brilliant storytelling, clocking in at almost 2300 words, is worth dissecting and poring over. Unlike previous music from Typhoon, where roughly a dozen musicians normally includes big and uplifting brass, this one is more guitar-centric, with dark string arrangements. After listening to it, I texted my All Songs Considered co-host Robin Hilton the following: “good lord this Typhoon album is brilliant … haven’t cried listening to a record since [Sufjan Stevens'] Carrie And Lowell.” Offerings is truly a wise and ruminative record.”

The band has already released two singles from the album – “Rorschach” and ”Darker”. Watch the video for “Rorschach” here and listen to “Darker” here.

Visit the band’s store to pre-order the album in CD (signed for pre-orders), MP3 or vinyl format. The limited-edition Blood-Red Offerings vinyl (1,000) have already sold out.

Typhoon is gearing up for their tour in North America and Europe in support of the album, starting January 10th and making stops in Toronto on January 23 and Vancouver on February 24.
