Released earlier this year, Ortega’s 12-track Liberty is “a cinematic journey” (NPR Weekend Edition) within itself, celebrating a three-part walk through darkness into freedom. It was hailed as “a reflection of American culture” (NPR All Songs Considered), and offered “ample echoes of Ennio Morricone, Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton” (New York Times).

Lindi Ortega has recently opened for the likes of Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit, Chris Stapleton, Dwight Yoakam, Kenny Rogers and more. For tickets and more information, please visit https://www.lindiortega.com.

HEAR NEW IDLES TRACK “GREAT”

August 14th, 2018

IDLESGreat

UPCOMING DATES IN TORONTO, MONTREAL AND VANCOUVER

TORONTO, ON – August 14, 2018 - IDLES have shared a new song off their upcoming LP Joy as an Act of Resistance,’ out 8/31 via Partisan. “Great” is a pro-immigration black comedy (“Islam didn’t eat your hamster/change isn’t a crime”) as well as a scathing confrontation of the Brexit/Trump era. The song’s accompanied by a music video (dir. by Theo Watkins), listen + watch here and feel free to share: idles.lnk.to/great/youtube.

Singer Joe Talbot says of the track: “Let us go forward with open minds and open hearts into that fuck off fire we’ve started. No blame, no hate. Just love.”

Joy as an Act of Resistance bluntly addresses everything from toxic masculinity, immigration, racism, nationalism + more. The band are able to channel those weighty subjects though pure positivity and even biting humor. Stereogum praised, “IDLES seem to be the sort of band who transcend corniness by virtue of conviction and intensity. In their hands, clichés are more like blunt weapons.”

IDLES are on the cover of this month’s DIY Magazine  (“No hyperbole needed; IDLES are the most important band we have right now.”), and will soon launch their first ever North American headline tour. Full routing here that includes stops in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. : https://www.idlesband.com/
