New Releases – Tuesday, October 15, 2013

Thrash pioneers Testament release the CD/DVD of their show at The Paramount, Long Island from earlier this year on ‘The Dark Roots of Thrash’. Performing material from their earliest to last years ‘The Dark Roots Of Earth’, the band is in their element live. Catch them on tour with Lamb Of God and Killswitch Engage October through November, kicking it off in Toronto October 22nd at the Kool Haus. The Best New Music-labeled record ‘Virgins’ comes to us from Montreal ambient musician Tim Hecker. Following up his 2011 Juno Award winning ‘Ravedeath, 1972′ Tim uses ensembles in live performance for the first time to create with woodwinds, pianos, and synthesizers what electronic music does not do naturally: create music that is out of time, out of tune, and out of phase. Warp Records newcomer kwes. (producer Kwesi Sey) has released his debut album ‘ilp.’. Self-described as free-pop: pop songs that can go anywhere, they can sometimes be very noisy, very quiet or somewhere in between, has caused The Guardian to call him “the junior Brian Eno of experimental UK pop”. Make the call for yourself after watching the video for album track ’36′. Below we also have CD reissues from Nuclear Blast Records of the Meshuggah catalog as well as select Soilwork, Sonata Arctica, and Blind Guardian releases.
