TORONTO, ON – November 29, 2017 – Toronto hard rock punk-metallers Sumo Cyco have released a brand new video for their third single “Sleep Tight” off their sophomore full-length Opus Mar today! Watch here.

In support of Opus Mar, Sumo Cyco opened for The Offspring at Sound of Music Festival in Burlington, Ontario, headlined a stage at WTF Fest alongside Our Lady Peace and Collective Soul, completed a North American tour with Birthday Massacre, and then flew to New Zealand to complete a 7-date tour last month, selling out multiple shows. The band returns to Toronto to record new material before heading off to Europe in February and March.

With 260,000+ streams of Opus Mar singles on Spotify, over 15,000 subscribers on Youtube, and a brand spankin’ new website, Sumo Cyco are ready to light up 2018!

Produced by Matt Drake (illScarlett) and James “LeRock” Loughrey (Skindred, Joss Stone), Opus Mar fuses hard rock guitar riffs, in-your-face blast beats and dancehall rhythms, all topped off by front woman Skye ‘Sever’ Sweetnam’s electric vocals. Sumo Cyco independently crowdfunded the new album, reaching 255% of their PledgeMusic goal after the buzz of previous single ‘Anti-Anthem’.

Front-woman Sever is the alter ego of former teen-pop sensation and JUNO nominee Skye Sweetnam, who signed to Capitol Records and EMI (Sony/ATV) Publishing at the age of fourteen. She performed in over 25 countries and opened for Britney Spears for 50 dates on the Onyx Hotel Tour, all before her 17th birthday. Skye co-wrote with hit makers such as Max Martin, The Matrix and Tim Armstrong (Rancid). Tim’s hit ‘Into Action’ features Sweetnam on backing vocals. After two full-length albums, Sweetnam decided to shift gears and initiated her departure from the major label.

Since forming, Sumo Cyco have recorded and released over a dozen digital singles to date alongside grindhouse-esque movie videos, which attracted over 2.9 million Youtube views and counting. The band has toured with Mushroomhead, Butcher Babies, Birthday Massacre, Alien Ant Farm, Hed PE, Fozzy, and Nonpoint, to name a few. In the studio, Sumo Cyco has worked with Jag Tanna (I Mother Earth), Julius ‘Juice’ Butty (Alexisonfire) and Matt DeMatteo (Big Wreck).
